Overshot - Preparing to Weave a Coverlet

In this overshot primer course, students will plan and execute a modest project to acquire a variety of skills unique to this style of weaving. Students will choose an individual overshot pattern and decide if they would like to pursue a wall hanging (plus additional fabric) or two panels to lay the foundation for a full-size coverlet project in the future. In preparation, students will consider the complexities of how the pattern transfers to the loom, such as how many repeats to thread and weave, how much border to include, and where to break the pattern to seam the panels. Students will also gain experience handling two shuttles and treadling a pattern weft alongside a tabby weft as they weave. Come explore overshot with us!
