Andean Pickup Warp Faced Rugs

In this week long course, students will learn a traditional Andean pickup technique. This warp-faced weaving style was historically used in back-strap loom weaving, but we will learn how the same method can be utilized on a barn loom, with treadling techniques that allow the creation of complex patterns and shapes on a warp-faced textile. Students will make and take home an approximately 2'x3' rug.
